Laser printers use toner cartridges, also known as printer toner, which is a powder-based ink. It is made of fine plastic particles, carbon black and other colouring agents. Toner is transferred to the paper using an electrostatically charged drum and it is fused on the paper by heated rollers.
A cartridge is a metal or cardboard tube containing a bullet and an explosive substance. Cartridges are used in guns. A cartridge is part of a machine or device that can be easily removed and replaced when it is worn out or empty. Change the filter cartridge as often as instructed by the manufacturer.

The modern cartridge case serves several important functions: Contains the other components (projectile, primer, propellant) in a single unit for convenience of handling and loading. Resists the firing-pin blow during ignition. Forms a gas seal (obturation)
