A marker is an object which is used to show the position of something, or is used to help someone remember something.
Some commonly used types of genetic markers are: RFLP (or Restriction fragment length polymorphism) SSLP (or Simple sequence length polymorphism) AFLP (or Amplified fragment length polymorphism)
All kinds of artists have found a use for markers. Because they're easy to use and dry quickly, markers are great on-location or outdoors - perfect for travel, plein-air studies or urban sketching. Their effortless application of color makes markers well-suited to doodling, sketching and gesture-drawing.
Markers are used as signposts (or landmarks) in the construction of DNA and genome maps. Markers can also be used to track inheritance of traits or disease risk in families.
