Its principles of separation are based on Impingement Separation and Interception Separation. As the gas flow containing liquid droplets passes through the corrugated plates, the liquid droplets continue on their straight path due to having more momentum. When the liquid drops hit the vane surfaces and collect them inside the pockets due to the force of surface tension, they fall due to their own weight.

The distance of the parallel plates is in the range of 1/2-3/4 and the recommended material for them is SS-304L and SS-316L. The angle of the wavy surfaces with the flow direction is 60-45°. The depth of the plates is about 200mm-300mm.
